About Hyunjin Min, 간단한 약력
작곡가, 기타리스트 민현진은 11세부터 독학으로 기타를 배우기 시작하였고 미국 노스 텍사스 대학교(The University of North Texas)에서 기타 연주 전공, 음악이론 부전공으로 학사및 석사학위를 받았다. 재학시절 수많은 연주 장학금을 받았으며 석사과정중에는 조교로서 강의하였다.
이후 미국 미네소타 대학교(The University of Minnesota)에서 기타연주 전공으로 음악예술학 박사학위를 수여받았다. 재학시 조교로서 강의하였으며 연주장학금을 받았다.
달라스 예술박물관 주최 컴피티션에서 입상하여 동연주홀에서 초청독주회를 갖는등 북미지역에서 활발한 연주활동을 하였다.
민현진은 2005년 9월부터 북키프러스 공화국의 동지중해 대학교(Eastern Mediterranean University)에서 교수로 임용되어 기타관련 모든과목, 음악이론 및 락음악의 역사등을 강의하였고 키프러스섬 에서 다양한 연주활동을 하였다.
2010년부터 터키에 거주하며 무역업과 관광업에도 활동하였고 2016년 이후로는 주로 스페인, 포루투갈및 모로코에서 관광분야에서 활동하며 포루투갈에 쏘코(SoKo) 여행사를 공동설립하기도 했다.
그는 2005년 이후 인연을 맺어온 지중해의 풍경과 역사를 배경으로 기타독주곡들을 작곡해 왔으며 그중 일부를 '지중해 이야기'라는 제목으로 발표한다.
Composer and guitarist Dr. Hyunjin Min, a native of South Korea, started learning guitar by himself at the age of 11. He received his bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of North Texas, majoring in guitar performance and a minor in music theory. During his school years, he was awarded numerous scholarships, including Brian Houck Memorial Guitar Scholarships and Adkins String Scholarships, and taught as a teaching fellow during his master's program.
Afterwards, he received the Doctor of Musical Arts(DMA) degree from the University of Minnesota, where he lectured as a Graduate Instructor and received performance scholarships.
He had performed at numerous places in North America, including the Dallas Museum of Arts Concert Hall as a winner of its' competition.
In September 2005, Hyunjin Min was appointed as a full time faculty at Eastern Mediterranean University in Northern Cyprus, and lectured all guitar-related subjects, music theory and history of rock, and actively performed in both South and North Cyprus.
In 2010, he moved to Turkey and has been active in trading and tourism business. Since 2016, he has worked in the tourism sector mainly in Spain, Portugal and Morocco, and co-founded the SoKo Travel in Portugal.
He has been composing music for solo guitar related to the Mediterranean landscape and history since 2005, and some of them are published under the title 'Mediterranean Stories'.
